Welcome...

This database is in appreciation of the 3-strip Technicolor films of the 1930's-1950's. It's based on Robert A. Harris' list of these films in one of his columns at The Digital Bits. He has graciously granted his permission to use the data from his list.

By developing it into a database, hopefully this will serve to help others who love these unique films...and would like to collect them on DVD.

The database contains only those films which were photographed using the 3-strip film process and printed using the imbibition dye transfer process. Technicolor continues as a printing process; however, it's the combination of the photography method and the printing method that makes these films special.

The database is as yet incomplete. Feel free to email suggestions and corrections or post them in the DVD Profiler thread for this database. If you have information regarding DVD availability in countries other than those listed, we would be happy to list it on the site if you can provide it.

So far all films though 1947 have been reviewed for Cinematography information and DVD Availability (USA, UK, Canada, Germany & France). This is an ongoing process, and additional completed years will be noted here.

Update: All films have been reviewed for Cinematography information and DVD Availability (USA, UK, Canada, Germany & France).
